Around a corner of a stairway in the narrow, steep streets of the village of Chefchaouen, Morocco, I encountered an elderly Berber shepherdess guiding her sheep through the blue alleyways of the town. Wrapped in a traditional shawl topped with a straw hat, she moved slowly and serenely, reflecting a life spent traversing these paths.
