During a week-long vacation in August 2024 on the island of Oléron, I had the chance to experience a memorable encounter. 

Around a corner in Domino, a charming village in the commune of Saint-Georges-d'Oléron, I spotted Oscar, the local butcher, proudly riding his Solex. This character, with his authentic look and his vintage bike, immediately caught my attention.

It became clear to me that I couldn’t let such an opportunity pass by. I approached him and asked if he would agree to let me take his picture. Oscar, with his natural kindness, agreed without hesitation. I captured the moment, photographing his rustic and retro style on his vintage bike—a reflection of a bygone era, yet still alive in the spirit of people like him.
