City trip to the historic capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia

For a long time, I had wanted to lose myself in the streets of Prague, the historic capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia. Its medieval atmosphere, stunning architecture, and ever-changing light made it the perfect destination for a solo city trip.

And I had another great reason to go: my brand-new Nikon Z 6III with its Nikkor 24-105mm f/4 lens. I couldn’t wait to see what it was capable of—and what better testing ground than Prague?

The magical atmosphere of Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge is the place everyone wants to see. But I wanted to shoot it without the crowds, so I was there at 6 AM. A mystical atmosphere guaranteed. Almost no one around, just a few early risers who added a human touch to my shots. I loved capturing these stolen moments: a lone jogger, a young woman gazing at the Vltava, a sleepy couple holding hands. Little fragments of life frozen in the morning mist.

Golden hour

If you want to see Prague at its best, you have to chase the light. And what better time than golden hour to enhance its cobbled streets and orange rooftops? From the heights of the castle, the city unfolded before me in soft, golden light. The red trams gliding through the streets added vibrant pops of color to my shots. It was impossible not to stop every five minutes to capture a different scene.

The must-sees, but my way

Of course, I couldn’t skip the must-see landmarks. Prague Castle towering over the city, the Astronomical Clock with its parade of moving figures (always crowded, but still worth it). Strahov Monastery? A dream for lovers of ancient libraries. Every detail of these places tells a story, and I took great pleasure in photographing them from angles that caught my eye.

Architecture that takes your breath away

Prague isn’t just about Gothic and Baroque; it’s also a city that dares to be unconventional. The Dancing House? A true architectural UFO. The covered passages with their stunning glass ceilings, the mesmerizing staircase at the Kubista Gallery, and the rotating Franz Kafka head sculpture—everything is inspiring. Not to mention the Art Nouveau facades, especially the one at the Municipal House, which are simply breathtaking.

Street photography in all its glory

But what I also really enjoy is capturing everyday life. Because Prague isn’t just about monuments—it’s about the atmosphere. You never know what to expect: a street musician lost in his melody, a couple sharing a hot trdelník, a waiter sprinting between tables at a crowded terrace, or something entirely different... Every moment deserves to be observed, and sometimes frozen in time; every alley holds its own surprises. That’s exactly why I love street photography: it’s alive, authentic, and always unexpected.
